A hormone in nasal spray increases men's ability to empathize.

Researches in Germany and the UK discovered that Oxytocin, the "cuddle hormone", found in nasal spray enables men to better respond to facial cues.

In one case study, men were shown emotional images like as a child crying and answered questions about their reactions. The men who used the nasal spray showed remarkably higher levels of empathy, which researchers remarked are usually only found in women.

Another study found that the hormone helps men learn from positive feedback and "seems to 'sensitise' people to become more aware of social cues from other individuals". The possibilities for treating people who suffer from social disorders like schizophrenia and autism are very exciting. I can't wait to see what else comes out of Oxytocin research.

BP Takes Giant Shit in Ocean

Here's a satellites' view of BP's giant, ecosystem-destroying fuck-up. Government officials claim BP will be responsible for the financial cost of the clean up, though according to NPR, BP has already asked for financial assistance for the clean up. Many are worried this could be the largest oil spill we've ever seen.

"What we see, going back two decades, is an oil industry that has had way too much sway with federal regulations," said Dan McLaughlin, a spokesman for Democratic Florida Sen. Bill Nelson. "We are seeing our worst nightmare coming true."

If you dress like a Nazi, you get your ass beat.

A couple of douche-bags decided to wear their SS uniforms to a Murphy's Law concert in NY this week. Though they remained untouched during the concert, afterward they were jumped by some 50 people. Hopefully they were beat beyond recognition, then maybe they can avoid the humiliation of being recognized as Nazi cock-suckers.
My question is what clues did these geniuses receive from pop culture prompting them to think Nazi gear was appropriate?? Was it Jessy James, Bombshell "Whore-Face" McGee, or Glen Beck? Whatever the reason, I hope they learned their lesson.

Urbania: Saddest Movie Ever

Trust the San Fransisco Chronicle when they say this is one of the best films produced. Heart-wrenching, honest, very relate-able in spite of the 90's wardrobe and Alan Cumming's unsettlingly spiky hair. I FELL IN LOVE with Dan Futterman in the lead! He's the perfect blend of broken and badass. It's a wonderful love story between two gorgeous men, so see it! and be prepared to cry.

Adam Lambert: Too Gay for TV

I don't really follow Adam Lambert, but his recent performance at the American Music Awards gave me a nice warm feeling. Not only am I thrilled to see an Out male pop star, but like any good musician he's pushing the envelope. No doubt a few producers shat themselves as they watched Adam kiss another man on live TV :). Networks don't like that.

Watch the video because the performance is sweet, but the interviewer pisses me off. This Morning Show reject pushes Adam to apologize. Thankfully he sticks to his guns. But she's a great example the uptight, heterosexist elite that control American media.
